Keco R & D Inc., is dedicated to providing quality instrumentation to help reduce emissions of hydrocarbons into the atmosphere and increase profitability for petrochemical plants.

The Texas regulators, TNRCC, have found that petrochemical plant cooling towers can emit 12,000 pounds per day of hydrocarbons into our air as a result of  corrosion leaks from heat exchangers. Keco's goal is to provide on-line analyzers that warn of corrosive leaks, preventing massive amounts of smog-forming chemicals from entering our atmosphere. In addition, this innovative technique can also save plant operators from losing valuable time and product.

Keco's main objective is to stop dangerous emissions into our atmosphere and increase the viability of our planet by stopping cooling tower leaks in a cost effective, low maintenance manner.

Our Products and Services

Permeation Tubes:

Metal permeation tubes containing gas, liquefiable gas, or liquid permeand for preparation of liquid or gas standards containing parts per billion (PPB) to parts per million (PPM) permeate.

Permeation Transfer Devices:

A dynamic flow membrane device, without moving parts, gives controlled transfer of components of interest, in a gas or liquid sample, into a clean gas or liquid carrier for introduction into an analyzer for measurement of the  components transferred, while preventing mist-containing dissolved solid from contaminating the analyzer.

Manual/Automatic Permeation Tube Calibrators:

Stationary and portable calibration systems for laboratory and process analyzers and detectors provide manual or automatic means of testing instrument zero and span capability.

Permeand Analyzer:

Membrane permeation transfer of volatile hydrocarbons in water ensures an ultra clean gas sample to a non-specific detector to produce a cost-effective process heat exchanger breakthrough detection system.

Precision Fluid Meter Equipment:

Precise quantities of fluids needed for injection into a flowing stream are user selected. Adjusting the pulse rate sets a precise drive rate to deliver PPB to high PPM calibration standards in gases or liquids to calibrate analyzers and detectors.

Centrifuge Sample Purifier:

Compact air motor driven continuous flow centrifugal force separator removes entrained particles of solids, oils, and greases from water samples. This sample preparation system is used to protect an analyzer from particulate and oily materials.

Analyzer Shelter Packaging:

Temperature controlled instrument shelter package can be furnished to your specifications to provide a total system to measure process variables. Unique sample preparation, sample conditioning, and calibration systems insure high performance with reduced maintenance. Packaging allows for "drop-in-place" installation.

Our History

Keco R & D Inc., was formed in 1983 and incorporated in 1985. The company opened after the owners sold their previous company, Houston Atlas Inc., to Baker Hughes. Seeing a pressing need to measure emissions of hydrocarbons in our environment, Keco devoted 10 years to researching and developing solutions. The result is new and innovative methods to calibrate instruments and state of the art techniques for measuring Volatile Organic Carbons (VOC) in cooling towers that result from leaks in petrochemical plant heat exchangers.

After patenting its new products, Keco began a sales effort to major refineries and chemical plants where the unique methods developed by Keco proved their benefits and durability in actual plant environments both nationally and abroad.
