SENSOR CALIBRATION
TO CALIBRATE H₂S AND OTHER SENSORS USING THE MICRO PIPETTE PERMEATION DEVICE

For continuous flow system, specify carrier flow rate and PPMv.
1/4" stub for "T" connection and luer tip for syringe needle.

PERMEATION RATE	One part per million (PPM) H₂S in air is obtained for each second the permeator is inserted into the calibration bottle.
PERMEATOR OUTLET	A syringe needle is fitted to the permeator for easy insertion into the calibration bottle.
CALIBRATION BOTTLE	The cap of the calibration bottle is fitted with an elastomer seal that clamps snugly around the sensor housing.
MULTIPLE POINT CALIBRATION	Because one PPM is added each second of insertion time, as many calibration points as desired can be easily obtained over the range of one to 100 PPM or more.

Calibrate with gas or vapor permeation tubes. Calibrate GC, Mass Spec, IR, etc. type analyzers. Solid state sensors are now easily calibrated in the field. KECO has developed a new simple technique for verification of sensor span.

A 500 ml calibration bottle is fitted with an elastomer seal that tightly fits around the sensor head. (When ordering, specify the manufacturer of the sensor head.) A septum mounted on the calibration bottle allows easy insertion of the permeator output needle. One PPM H₂S is added for each second the permeation needle is inserted through the septum. Within seconds the H₂S diffuses to provide a uniform mixture. Forty seconds insertion time results in a 40 PPM sample. A graph is provided to correct for the small change in output with temperature changes (1% per degree F).

When parts per billion (PPB) samples are required, specify desired output such as 1, 10 or 100 PPB per second and container volume or carrier flow rate if other than the above calibration bottles is used. Thermostated jacketing for the permeation tube should be specified for precision applications. Explosion proof models are available.

A continuous flowing PPM reference standard is easily prepared. Remove the syringe needle and insert the 1/4 inch tubing output from the permeator into a 1/4 inch tubing "T". A 14,150 nanogram per minute (.01 ml/min) permeator and a carrier flow of 500 ml/min will provide a 20 PPM sample.
